  • Briefing given to Chancellor.
  • Overview presentations are held to initiate the accreditation process. The Chancellor, Vice Chancellors, Deans, Chairs and Directors are invited.
October 2014-May 2015
  • The accreditation Work Team Chairs organize and convene.
  • The campus community receives briefing and updates on the accreditation process. See the list of Councils and Committees.
January 7, 2015
  • Reaffirmation of Accreditation Retreat.
By Spring 2015
  • Work teams begin identifying claims and evidence needed for each criterion. Work teams upload their lists and available documents to Box@UNL.
  • Work teams identify points that should be made in their respective report sections and identify additional documents needed as evidence.
  • Work teams begin identifying missing or incomplete evidence. Work teams upload lists of missing or incomplete evidence to Box@UNL.
By June 1, 2015
  • Assurance arguments for each Criterion are drafted. Arguments are turned over to the HLC editor.
By June 30, 2015
  • Work teams finalize assurance arguments.
  • Each work team uploads to Box@UNL a bulleted list of points to be made in their report section and a list of additional documents needed as evidence.
  • The Work Team Chairs meet to review the project status and to discuss the draft assurance arguments.
By August 1, 2015
  • Assurance argument given to campus editor for revision.
September 2015
  • The campus community is updated on steering committee progress and the re-accreditation work plan for 2016-17.
By November 5, 2015
  • Deans respond to request from campus editor for additional information after gap analysis.
By January 27, 2016
  • Vice Chancellors respond to request from campus editor for additional information.
  • Work on the federal compliance document continues.
  • A third draft of the assurance arguments is released to work teams for their review.
By February 1, 2016
  • Work Team Chairs provide feedback on Draft 3.
By March 11, 2016
  • Draft 3 is revised per feedback received from work groups, then edited and formatted. Results in Draft 4.
  • Draft 4 is reviewed and formatted by the HLC Leadership Team.
By April 19, 2016
  • Draft 5 and the federal compliance document are edited, formatted, and finalized. Results in Final Draft of the assurance argument.
  • Site logistics plan is implemented.
May 2016
  • Plans for campus outreach and the site visit are finalized.
June-July, 2016
  • All documents/evidence identified by work teams are collected, annotated, scanned, and uploaded into the HLC online system.
July, 2016
  • Final assurance argument and federal compliance document are loaded into the HLC online system.
  • Site logistics work continues.
  • Solicit Public Comment for HLC
August, 2016
  • Assurance argument and federal compliance document are locked in the HLC online system.
September, 2016
  • Site visit logistics are completed. The assurance argument is disseminated to persons who will likely be involved in the site visit for their study of the argument prior to the visit.
  • Campus Conversations on Accreditation.
October, 2016
  • Site visit logistics are completed. The assurance argument is disseminated to persons who will likely be involved in the site visit for their study of the argument prior to the visit.
  • Site visit prep sessions for faculty, staff and students.
October 24 & 25, 2016
  • Accreditation site visit occurs.
Spring 2017
  • Accreditation review team submits its report to HLC.
  • HLC Institutional Actions Council renders its decision regarding reaccreditation.
